2351 Elegans

We recently finished renovations on a 4 bedroom home located at 2351 Elegans Rd. in North Charleston.  This home has been completely renovated and is ready for a low income homebuyer.  We are also completing our first home that will be fully wheelchair accessible.  Both homes were purchased and renovated in order to be sold to families earning 80% or less of AMI.  The CACDC plans to continue similar projects in order to provide affordable housing units for purchase in the tri-county area.

Under our owner occupied rehabilitation program we have recently completed several projects.  Through funding from the City of Charleston, 4 homes have received necessary repairs.  All of these homeowners have low incomes and most are elderly and on a fixed income.   We will begin work on a fifth  City of Charleston owner occupied project shortly.  The CACDC will continue repairing owner occupied units as funding is available.

Flora Street Project

Our Flora Street Project is ready for occupants.  This project provides a total of 6 rental units for men released from prison through the Civic Justice Corps, a program run by the Noisette Foundation or for families displaced by foreclosure.  These units are designed as short-term housing to help tenants transition into permanent housing. The units are completely renovated to be energy efficient and safe.

One of the three bedroom units will be utilized for emergency housing for the Civic Justice Corps graduates. These men will be able to stay in this unit until they can move into a place of their own.  There will be support services available in this unit such as NA classes, bible studies, movie night, etc.
