Individual Development Accounts (IDA) Program
Charleston Area CDC promotes building savings and helps eligible individuals and families save money by enrolling them in our Individual Development Account Program. Participants enrolled in our IDA program receive 3 to 1 match funds on money they have save which can be used to start a business, purchase a home or further their education. To ensure success among program participants, we collaborate with our partners to provide specific and detailed education, training and guidance in the specific area IDA funds will be used for.
Trade Specific Job Training and Apprenticeship Program
New to Charleston Area CDC's Economic Development Programs and services are job readiness clinics, trade specific job training and the apprenticeship program. Available employment opportunities, stable employment and developed skill sets that earn a livable wage are crucial steps to ensuring the stability of families and communities. Charleston Area CDC's works to promote job creation, but more importantly focuses on creating access to opportunties that offer training and development of skills and specific trades that enhance employability.

Through collaborative partnerships with community and corporate partners we offer small business education to participants of our IDA program who wish to start a small business or any individual who would like the opportunity to access educational information on how to start, maintain and grow a small business. Our classes teach business management capacity, assist entrepreneurs and sustain businesses in order to improve the economic quality of life. We work with individuals one-on-one to provide guidance and to link them to our partners to help refine their business plans, prepare their income taxes, obtain business licenses, and access additional resources.
